Our Beliefs

Chelsea First is part of the Assemblies of God. Our beliefs are grounded in Scripture and centered on Jesus Christ. We affirm the Assemblies of God Statement of Fundamental Truths as our theological foundation.

  • The Bible

God’s inspired Word and authority for life.

We believe the Bible is the inspired and trustworthy Word of God. It is our foundation for faith and the standard for how we live.

Scripture reveals God’s character, His truth, and His plan for our lives. Through the Bible, we learn how to follow Jesus, grow in wisdom, and live with purpose.

As we read and study God’s Word, we draw closer to Him and gain a deeper understanding of His love.

  • The Trinity

One God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

We believe there is one true God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, distinct in personhood, and perfectly united in nature, purpose, and love.

God is the Creator of all things and the source of life. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit work together in perfect harmony to accomplish His plan of redemption and reveal His heart to the world.

Through knowing God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we grow in our relationship with Him and better understand His love, power, and purpose for our lives.

  • Jesus

Fully God and fully man, our Savior and Lord.

We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He is the central figure of Christianity, the Word of God made flesh. Jesus was sent by God to be the ultimate sacrifice for our sins so that we could enjoy an eternal life with Him. Jesus’ teachings on love, forgiveness, humility, and repentance are at the core of our beliefs.

We also believe in Jesus’ resurrection, that it was proof of His deity and the promise of eternal life for all those who believe.

We are called to follow Jesus, to live lives of holiness, and to share the good news of the gospel. As we learn to love and serve others, we are reminded of Jesus’ example of love and sacrifice.

  • The Holy Spirit

Empowers believers for life and service

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, who is present and active in the lives of believers today. He comforts, guides, strengthens, and helps us grow in our relationship with God.

The Holy Spirit gives us understanding of God’s Word and empowers us to live out our faith each day. He leads us in truth, shapes our character, and helps us follow Jesus faithfully.

We also believe the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to believers for service, ministry, and building up the Church. Through His power, we are equipped to share God’s love with the world.

  • Salvation

By grace through faith in Jesus Christ

We believe salvation is found through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Jesus was sent by God to save us from sin and give us the gift of eternal life.

We are saved by God’s grace, not by our own works or efforts. Through repentance and faith in Jesus, we are forgiven, made new, and restored to a right relationship with God.

No matter our past, God’s love and mercy are available to all who turn to Him. In Christ, we have the assurance of salvation and the hope of eternal life.

  • The Church

Called to make disciples and love the world.

We believe the Church is the body of Christ, made up of all believers who are united by faith in Jesus Christ. Together, we are called to worship God, grow in faith, and encourage one another in love.

We are committed to loving God and loving others, and to being known by the way we care for one another. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we seek to follow Jesus faithfully and live out His teachings each day.

The Church is also called to share the gospel, make disciples, and serve the world with compassion and truth. We strive to reflect Christ through loving actions in our community and beyond.

  • Baptism & Communion

    Ordinances commanded by Christ

We believe Jesus gave the Church two ordinances: water baptism and Holy Communion. These sacred practices are meaningful expressions of faith and obedience to Christ.

Water baptism is an outward declaration of an inward transformation. It symbolizes new life in Christ and a believer’s commitment to follow Him.

Holy Communion reminds us of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and the new covenant we have through Him. As we receive it together, we remember His grace, celebrate His love, and proclaim our faith until He comes again.

  • Hope for the Future

    Christ’s return and eternal life

We believe Jesus Christ is coming again. His return is our blessed hope and gives us peace, confidence, and joy for the future.

Those who have died in Christ will be raised, and believers who are living when He returns will be with Him forever. Because of His promise, we know our future is secure in Him.

This hope encourages us to live faithfully, love others well, and look forward with joyful expectation.
